2/ Initially we'd write the rejection emails ourselves at end of every night. I was already used to doing it with @paulg at the end of YC interview days. This actually turned out to be our main growth driver - engineers share and talk about the feedback with others who then apply

One thing the email didn't mention is I wasn't quite ready for the interview. Needed a few more minutes to set up my structure and had some issues b/c of that. But dinged because I didn't write perfect error-free code on the first try. Is that how programmers work? I didn't know!

More detailed than a couple words, but you must be hiring robots to look at interviews. I asked the interviewer specifically if he had any trouble following my code. He said "no". The email wording seemed to suggest that the interviewer could barely communicate w/me.
