Imagine getting butthurt about a cartoon character. Wow

Imagine being so enveloped in privilege that you can’t understand why someone would be offended by a cartoon.
-
So I guess you will be rallying against, "White guys can't jump" next?
-
As a white guy who can’t jump, I have no problem with a movie calling it like it is. Also it’s a 25 yr old movie no one is offended by, so who cares? If you have a well-reasoned argument for why it’s offensive though, I’m willing to listen.

30 year old show and people are just now getting mad over a character. 30 year old show that's filled with stereotypes. 30 year old show that's funny because it shows all stereotypes and shows how stupid stereotypes can be. 30 year old show that shows how sensitive people can be.

Bro if they watched South Park their heads would explode!

You're right. And you know, I learned something today. It's not about being outraged over this or that, but being good to those directly around us that matters.

Next are you going to address misogyny in rap music? Or are we adult enough to accept it as entertainment?

While we're at it we can discuss misogyny in rock or does that not fit the inflammatory nonsensical response you guys were going for? Let me know!

As far as I'm concerned the boundary is punching down which is cheap and I think it's not that anyones banning media thats problematic but asking creators to engage with why they make certain choices. As someone who makes things I think that's necessary
-
Idk who decides what's acceptable I don't think there's a jury. But I personally like to put things in appropriate social and historical context as a general rule. On its own to many (I'm guessing you) the Apu thing is nbd but if you engage with it more deeply the issues appear

Love how dumb our generation is, bringing this up now after 15 plus years and this has been one of several episodes that has had something to do with this topic it’s just you bothered to watch one
-
Right? It’s almost as if the children who grew up watching The Simpsons are starting to make movies, write articles, and express opinions about how the show affected them, and the landscape of pop culture has shifted enough for the rest of us to actually hear their voices.
-
Lol that’s the point the children obviously never grew up

-
Also it's not 15 years. It's running up on 30. The point of the documentary was that a lot of Indians grew up with only Apu or no name convenience store clerks being their media representation. The documentary is excellent at explaining this, as is a Master of None episode
