The RS8973 is a ZipWire family high speed 2B1Q SDSL/HDSL modem. If you have attended @hardwear_io this is the IC we decapped using hot air during the workshop. This is a multi chip design with a DSP and an analog front end.

At #HardPWN during (assisted by ) worked on rooting the Pixel watch for further research. The results are now documented at forum.xda-developers.com/t/how-to-root- .
Looking forward to see what the community will do with this method.

You can now root your Pixel Watch following a guide by @breaddisease, provided you get a special debug adapter that Google distributes "by invitation only."
Installing Magisk on the Watch follows the same process as on phones.

This weekend whilst I was at #hw_ioUSA2023 I was able to root the Google Pixel Watch with the help of , , and the Google team! I gained root access using a Magisk-patched boot image and a special cradle to interface with the USB pins under the wristband
