Hard to imagine safer papers than those imposed by every-4-month deadlines and every-6-month performance reviews. The industry I'm in is beholden to these, so I don't see safety as a purely academic problem.

Did the book mention that Einstein claimed even the patent he was reading was helping him daydream about trains, electric switches, thermodynamics? Maybe beat reading “real” papers of his days?
