As I get older I find it's easier to roll back the years and see the younger version of people that I meet. Probably a function of me getting older myself. I think that I lacked this ability as a younger person.

This is an incredible post from who now has a monthly audience the size of New York City - make sure you really want to be famous before you go chasing clout, because the death threats and extortion attempts are inevitable.

Just saw tweeting about the newest addendum episode, and my first thought was "How did I not know about the addendum feed!? There's more episodes!?!?"

The Crimean War was fought between 1853 to 1856 and is probably best remembered for Balaclava, the Charge of the Light Brigade & Florence Nightingale. The early photographs of its British soldiers are quite stunning! I wonder how many of you have ancestors who fought in the war?

Oh boy...that's a long series! (Our longest maybe?). All because I couldn't find the proper place to begin a story about Cleopatra of Egypt. Typical.

First Nations people are original inhabitants of the land that is now Canada. The photographs below were taken by Henry Pollard in 1910, and you can now see them in color for the first time.

I did an appearance on The Football History Dude podcast talking NFL football while promoting my book. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, you can hear it here:

That's a good small unit version. Some of the riots in some places get pretty big too (and have horses sometimes!).Only way I can think of to assess the pre-gunpowder physics aspect (even though it's obviously far from perfect)

RIP Philip. Don't know if you've ever seen the gold leaf crowns from Aigai... an archaeologist's dream, a conservator's nightmare.

In myth, the Lemures were spirits of the restless, unburied dead, who haunted the houses of the living. Every year they were given offerings of black beans to persuade them to leave; if not accepted, they were chased away by clanging a bronze cooking pot.

Love the constant tug of war between Dan Carlin trying to make episodes shorter and his fans viscerally rooting for him to fail so they can get more content

That's buddy. I can't deny that I'm crazy anymore. Unfortunately the truth is amply documented. I keep adding to the evidence too.
