    Equal parental leave was negotiated & agreed between the unions & the employer’s org today in 🇩🇰 which is excellent news. (As most labour stuff is by collective bargaining rather than law here it’s effectively a new law now waiting approval by gov.)

    The agreement must help to ensure a larger one equality onlabor market and give both mothers and fathers equal maternity leave. The agreement stipulates that 11 weeks must be earmarked for each. The earmarked maternity leave cannot be transferred between the parents, which means that if one party does not take time off work for 11 weeks, the maternity leave will be lost. In addition, both parents are granted 13 weeks' maternity leave each, which they can freely distribute among themselves. The agreement has been entered into between the Trade Union Movement's Main Organization (FH), which represents 1.3 million employees and the Danish Employers' Association (DA), which represents 25,000 companies

    Here’s that trust study

    Today, Denmark lifted all restrictions & COVID-19 is no longer deemed a "societal threat". I led the country's largest behavioral covid-project () & advised the Danish gov. Here are my thoughts on how DK got here, what can be learned & what lies ahead. 🧵 (1/14)

    That’s a term that’s used here btw. Eg in this really awful take on test centres hiring more brown folks bc they had to hire fast. “For many Danes it was the 1st time they had a positive experience with a ‘non ethnic Dane’” (translation issues? Idk)

    Oh there’s also the ‘trust in the state’ factor wrt getting vaccinated here - there’s a thread going round about it. It’s true and a factor imo of no Murdoch style press, plus a state that has delivered for (white ‘ethnic’) Danes throughout their lives, and also banning AZ.

    (And 12-15 year olds are included in that 80%+) All in all it continues to feel impossible for me to ‘return to normal’ when I know if I get unwell my family might watch me struggle unable to visit or care for me bc Brexit + borders

    Of course it’s removed now so I don’t go inside ever anywhere but my house. It could have been replaced by masks and ventilation tech. Let’s see how autumn goes. It’s a very outdoorsy & v small population (a lot of kids get outdoor teaching, and everyone cycles everywhere)

    I know the world likes to hold Denmark up as a shining light (man, their PR is hiding so much awful sexism and racism) and I don’t agree with their attitudes to total mask mandate removal, but the coronapas & huge free every-corner & surge testing programme worked.
