If you’re going through the mud, you’re learning something crucial. You are improving. You are becoming someone different. Hallelujah for that. Hallelujah for the thought of becoming better versions of ourselves in the midst of daily growing pains.

If your first reaction to the news that 18 children & a teacher were slaughtered is to defend anything other than them… It’s time to unplug your soul for 30 seconds and then plug it back it. Your humanity needs a reset…

Tell me about the last time you went somewhere and just stayed present in the moment. You didn't pull out the phone. You didn't document. You didn't tell everyone what you were doing & thinking. Tell me the last time you decided to simply be and it was enough.

You can't be everyone's cup of tea. Some people don't even like tea. Don't try to become a cup of coffee just because you want more approval and praise.

The more we watch Toy Story, the more I imagine my daughter’s toys downstairs conspiring after we go to bed. This movie different as a parent 😂

I think we place so much pressure on ourselves from the start of a book-writing project that we forget to enjoy the making or just be exhilarated for a moment or two that we are writing. At long last, we are writing. Let that sink in. Let that be enough.

I haven't been on here much over the last few years and I'm sorry for that! I've missed you in this sphere and would love to become a regular again 🤍 tweet by tweet.

"Why would you want to use me?" Moses asks of God. "I will be with you." That's it. That's what God says. Not "you have what it takes." Not "you're completely qualified." But, "I will be with you." That is the qualification. That is the covering.

Jesus could have rose from the dead instantly. That could have been the story. But God carved out space for a Saturday— a day where faith was shaky and many probably questioned, “Where is God in all of this?”

I try my best not to live with regrets but there is one thing I'd tell my younger self: Stop holding yourself to goals you must achieve by _insert age here_. You're limiting yourself. Leave room for new things to happen your whole life, not just in your 20s or 30s or 40s.

What if we checked into our own lives as much as we checked into the lives of other people online? What if we spent our time checking in on our people-- like really checking in-- instead of assuming their posts + stories tell the whole story.

I hope you relentlessly check into your own life and realize you have the power to change at any time. You can cultivate a life you love— brick by brick— but it will take your presence and your full attention to get there.

That doesn’t mean you won’t feel lonely or like other people have greener grass than you. Life ebbs and flows in seasons— sometimes the grass will feel so lush + green and other days you’ll grapple with envy and comparison. It’s okay to not always be on the mountaintop.

I just want to encourage you to cultivate fullness in your own life. Put down the phone and look around you. Call a friend. Make some plans. Live instead of documenting. Go places without being all plugged in. Be where your feet are.
