So they're called "Null-Conditional Operators", and I've only really seen them in C# so far (and you have to be using NET 4.0, which Unity does as of recent versions). https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/language-reference/operators/member-access-operators#null-conditional-operators--and- … They may exist in other things, but I don't think its a common feature of languages

I think it's just syntactic sugar, so I doubt that there's any difference in performance.
