Great point but don't forget to include law enforcement agencies and their part in this hysteria. They like to stir up the fear of sex trafficking because the more fear there is, the more funding they get. Legislatures love to fund hot button topics.

Beautiful perspective here. Let's not begin with the assumption that prison is a reasonable response.

The neighbors could help solve things by finding housing for those people.

About that one guy on the ...if the neighbors are not calling the cops about something (disturbance, intoxication or trespassing) he *did*, then someone needs to tell them to back off. Let the guy survive the winter.

This is an important point. Kids need to hear about the draconian punishments that wait for them. Schools need to step up.

Interesting thread about drug addiction and the harms of prohibition.

If we are serious about reducing mass incarceration, we must see that it is essential to reduce opportunities for engagement with law enforcement. 5/5

...that will keep Those People out of the business? Glad this prosecutor has softened her stance but her softer stance still maintains a very busy intersection where weed producers, merchants, users, and law enforcement will have to engage. 4/

...will the same businesses be allowed to continue operations after legalization? Will people with a felony record be able to set up shop or will they be barred? Will the entry threshold stay low as it is today or will there be heavy capital requirements... 3/

Regulation sounds like "we just want to keep you safe" but the totally *unregulated* MJ industry we have now is already safe. We already have a fairly efficient sales/distribution mechanism in place but... 2/

This is interesting. On the one hand, we have a prosecutor in favor of legalizing weed. On the other hand, we have a prosecutor in favor of keeping a heavy gov't hand on the weed industry. 1/

Stop putting people in prison. Send elderly inmates home. Stand up to the governor. Ignore your reelection chances in order to do the right thing.

"...lawmakers have known about these issues for years, and have done nothing to fix it." Nebraska legislators, pay attention! You created a mess & you're letting it fester.

Great reminder: don't believe most of what you hear about crimes.
