    In all seriousness, the PUK needs to set limits to the greeds of certain of its officials who act like warlords without regard not just to the law, but the party itself. Such malign behaviros will be corrosive to the PUK and the entire Kurdistan Region.

    My problem with this is that the US is trying to sell this as a big deal in retaliation to the Turkish invasion of northern Syria; it is not. The US is suspending this in a time Turkey doesn’t need it at all anymore.

    This will have limited if any impact on anti-PKK ops; in the last few years, Turkey has simultaneously built advanced drone capabilities, networks of local spies & big increase in troop deployment. Since mid-2015, TR has killed 128 senior PKK commanders/fighters: Crisis Group.

    The failed KRG has steadily deteriorated over the last three decades to provide basic services to the citizens. Besides the shortage of electricity, oil, and roads, people are currently suffering an acute gas shortage, which has caused prices to more than double.

  5. It’s unfortunate US views PKK as a terrorist org. Maybe that will change after the Belgian court’s ruling. However, Even if US is distancing its self right now- it’s only bc they can’t control Erdogan.. Will most likely change tone for the next Turkey pres. Not convinced by this.

    The 2 Kurdish ruling parties, KDP & PUK, have monopolized all vital sectors in Kurdistan region- from oil,gas, telecom, internet, cement, cigarettes- for their own + proxy companies. They never let anyone compete them unless giving key share to them!

    2- the outgoing gas transport company was close to Lahur, the licence is now given to someone (allegedly close to PM Barzani) but has agreed to give 40% share to another PUK group close to Talabani sons; now elements close to Lahur try to stop the new company by force;

    It is in the best interest of the “international coalition” to put an end to Daesh once and for all. And KRG deserves the same type of peace that EU is enjoying & wants to keep safe. Also it’s important to look at the source of the encouragement for Daesh which is Turkey!

    Fake refrndm not necsry to know what Kurds want. Also this tells of friction inside Barzani clan- which is bad for the region. Competition & rivalry will only effect the ppl negatively. KRG needs stable, honest & trust worthy leaders. This is very worrying for the future of KRG!

    In fact deserves more credit for their willingness & hard work in finding solutions diplomatically & democratically and also for their collective awareness. They’re modern, forward thinking & humanitarian in their approach of doing politics. We need more of that!
