or maybe he is someone with severe mental health issues and not part of any "movement" Going online does not make you a "movement" the cause of his actions are almost certainly mental health related.

That doesn't excuse him from the consequences of his actions or excuse us from having to work to understand why and how this could happen.

not excusing at all. Finding out the why is exactly what I am getting at. the easy way out for media is to say part of some "online movement" Much more complicated than that.

I mean... The movement exists. These are people who congregate in online spaces specifically to reinforce and share their beliefs. It's a thing.

1) A lot of them are adults. 2) The fact that they have a shared ideology and act in support of each other makes them a movement, not whether or not you think they're valid. 3) Denying the harm they do is dangerous in multiple ways.

shared ideology? like New York Yankees fans? No one is denying the harm. you're missing the point. A trite label does nothing to address the harm. it's young men who aren't expected to interact with others..who fester online. get them out into society.

Fandom isn't an ideology. This man was a member of an online movement that encourages its members to be actively misogynistic and idolizes people who lash out violently. I'm increasingly convinced you have an ulterior motive for painting this guy as a "lone wolf."

he is not a "lone wolf" incel person on whatever. he is allegedly a mass killer. Trite labels do nothing to try to understand why he would do something so horrific.
