David Autor's work shows the falling status of men relative to women in the same age cohort, particularly non-college educated men, has contributed to declining male labor force participation, less family formation and a host of other social problems. There's no need for snark.https://twitter.com/drvox/status/1080907726899732480 …

The diverging labor market success of men and women is a massive trend that we rarely talk about Just because Tucker is the one saying it doesn't justify dismissing the issue or making absurd false comparisons. You don't have to be believe in EvoPsych just-so stories to believe men and women compete for mates on different dimensions. It's observed and replicated. Similarly saying "Ya but my wife is ugly and I'm poor and we make it work" is not an argument. These are population level generalizations.

The signaling theory of college applies not just to employers but also one another. Women with college degrees prefer higher earning men with college degrees. But because women's education attainment now surpassed men, that forces many more women to "marry down" in equilibrium.pic.twitter.com/gSaszLUHvP

But equilibrium isn't necessarily achieved. If college educated women insist on marrying other college educated men, but there aren't enough to go around, you get a lot of single ladies...https://www.amazon.com/All-Single-Ladies-Unmarried-Independent/dp/1476716579 …

So, what's the solution that's beneficial for everyone? Convince women that "high status" should not necessarily = high earners, BUT ALSO convince men that beauty should not necessarily be narrowly defined?

Conventional "beauty" is also a status symbol for men as well. So we also need to convince men to more highly value other aspects in a partner outside of physical ones.

yes there is need for snark. Maybe, just maybe, it makes sense for women to see bigger wage gains considering they've been earning about two-thirds (even half) of what men earn to do the same work, since forever. If men feel threatened by that, it's their problem, not ours

It's not just female wage gains. It's male wage deterioration, partly downstream of deindustrialization. Analysizing in an interpersonal moralizing way is a category error.
