Richard Feynman found trigonometry notation to be ambiguous and confusing. "If I had sin f, it looked like s×i×n×f" So he decided to create his own notation. See below. 🧐 What do you think?

When presented with *human* toys, female *monkeys* play more with typically feminine toys, whereas male *monkeys* play more with masculine toys. In human & nonhuman primates, females have a greater interest in infants, and males in rough-and-tumble play.

Plus newspapers don't have the monopoly on keeping people "informed" that they used to. I made all those millions without ever subscribing to the WSJ, so apparently it's optional. Books + free news sources seem to be sufficient.

Twitter search is quietly becoming more important 1) Harder to undetectably downrank a tweet than a web page 2) More literal 3) Search-as-memory vs search-as-discovery There's something to the idea that decentralized media will disrupt search and social over the very long term.

My algebra lecturer told us: take a map that contains your location, crumple it up; drop it on the floor; one point in the crumpled blob now lies exactly over the real point is represents.

It's not about listening to others nor is it about actively trying to be different, that shouldn't be the motivation. It is about terminating the goal to be like everyone else, and do what's most important to accomplish your goals.

New video! Bayes' theorem, and making probability intuitive. I had fun bringing in some Kahneman and Tversky results to show where human intuition seems to jive with probability, and where it doesn't.

There's a big untapped potential in leveraging the dopamine hit humans get from learning something new. What if the instinct to grab your phone on the line to the restaurant was to acquire knowledge instead of checking Social Media?

It's ironic to think that during thousands of years every human on Earth was exposed to a starry sky, which sparked tremendous curiosity and drived scientific progress. Today, ~60% of humans live in cities and see a light polluted homogenous sky.

Yeah, somehow non-ionizing radiation can be ionizing for some people, if you believe enough, that is! Oh, and the sun isn't just always sending out ionizing radiation, and it's definitely not the atmosphere blocking said radiation.
