My State Visit to China was a success. We secured opportunities for Namibian beef exports; increased STE transfers into Namibia; financing infrastructure development for jobs and growth. Businesses will benefit. Agreements will be implemented. We are taking Namibia forward.

Mr President, You trip to China confused me. I thought that we all agree that the Chinese trade policies have destroyed the Namibian construction industry. They failed to transfer skills and compete with the local for non-critical retail markets. Am I missing something?

The President said the trip was to create a win win situation, but your question is very valid. They need to disclose all the agreements they signed

“Chinese buys Chinese”! We all know that. Chinese companies are funded by their Government. Our people are self funded. Why do business with people with such destructive trade policies?

Well that is obvious that the Chinese support the Chinese. Us locals need to learn from that as well. However the EU also has restrictive polices on us, but we still trade with them. That's why it is important to GRN to disclose the agreements.

Businesses in Namibia can only grow if every Namibian is given equal opportunities but not just those who have uncles and aunties that are close to ministers and their families. We want fair opportunities and if such things can be cut out then we can move forward as a nation

One really hopes Namibians will take advantage of these opportunities, especially the young entrepreneurs and women in business.

Indeed, we need to understand the Pres' role as a catalyst who gets the firewood and then that of the processes, systems and institutions creating an enabling environment. The duty now is left with us to act. We cannot continue complaining without trying.

Business opportunities for supplying imported consumables through tenders 'll only benefit the few individuals within a limited time period. We must consider E.g Chinese capabilities to set up factories in order to convert any compatible resources into fully final products
