Sad news...... Police confirm Brian Black, aged in his 70’s, has died following an incident today. Police say they received a report at 11.30am that a car had entered the water at Strangford. Mr Black was freed from the vehicle and taken to hospital where he passed away.

So very sorry to hear this, I worked with him on projects in Down. His passion for the marine environment was inspiring.

I only saw Brian Black in the flesh once, about 15 years ago. He stopped his car in front of ours, got out and lifted a dead badger from the centre of the road, placing it gently onto the verge. Always struck me that he respected wildlife, even in death.
