not enuf qualified teachers. If you are good at coding, why would you teach and make 1/3 the salary? Having volunteered to teach Scratch in my kids' schools for many years, it's hard teaching a class of 28 of kids w/a WIDE range of abilities. Coding is easier; Teaching is hard.

what i've heard from
@codeorg is they have a great platform for any kind of teacher - english, math, science teachers to teach CS using their tools - you don't need to be a CS teacher to do it!2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
having led effort in my kids' school, it's not the same as having a teacher. All classes start w/ http://code.org most don't get farther than a few hours of code. There may be 1-2 non-CS teachers who r willing to take on CS beyond but even then it doesn't get far enough.

Sophia, totally agreed. You need a teacher to teach CS for change to lasti for all students. Ask your school to teach CS. Sample letter at http://code.org/promote/letter . @codeorg will provide the training for the teachers, free of charge. See http://code.org/teach .
