There are many examples of spending billions to subvert democracy. By contrast, in CS, it took a few million $ to build a global movement, supported by millions of parents and 100,000s of teachers, until global leaders joined in. That’s democracy at work, not being subverted.

Common Core is a great example of the opposite of what happened in K-12 CS: power actors spent billions, public backlash. In CS, educators themselves decided it was a good idea, public support from all sides. 75% of all public comments to Dept of Ed ask for more CS! No backlash.
