I think there's a misunderstanding that the driving force of this change is powerful actors. The driving force has been nonprofits, educators, and academia, building enough momentum that politicians, celebrities, and companies decided to support or fund.
I know because I recruited most of the politicians, celebrities, CEOs. Besides, schools don't change each time "powerful actors" say so (consider most efforts in ed reform). Schools change when educators see a good idea they like. CS in K-12 is a teacher-led movement. Their voice

However the companies deserve incredible credit for supporting the schools and nonprofits and universities that have shown leadership in this broadly popular movement. Great case study of corporate philanthropy doing real good to help the country and on a unifying cause.
