they didn't. Uber and Lyft *both* operated thru the strike normally. After the taxi strike ended, Uber dropped surge pricing.

@lyft jumped out & donated $1m cemented it -
people are - understandably - very emotional right now & quick to take action. Word spread of "Uber broke strike" & off it went
