Our tax dollars are subsidizing unhealthy food that makes people sick. It's time this issue made the national debate http://time.com/4393109/food-subsidies-obesity/ …

This has been a national debate for a while. Most people like food that's cheap, fast, consistent in quality, and easily accessible.

You need to change the culture. Taking away subsidies would make things worse for those lacking knowledge and budget to eat better.

but should our taxes help make unhealthy food cheaper? (especially since our taxes also help cover the healthcare cost too)

Yes, hierarch of pub concerns: 1) can afford to eat 2) have enough ⏰ to eat 3) price:quantity ratio ✅ 4) convenient 5) will kill me?

I 💯support healthier food but cutting subsidies will cause a backlash from people just trying to get by and set us back

US is not the only producer, exporters will be 😆 to pick up slack = more consolidation by $USFD $SYY $K $UL b/c supply chain advantge

Most organic food eaten in US is imported. If we subsidize food, why not subsidize healthy food and compete with those exporters?

Would be a step forward if we can agree on definitions of "healthy food" and "organic". Your definitions might differ from USDA's.

Also trivial to turn healthy ingredients into unhealthy food. Must compete across all levels of supply chain against status quo.
