Iran’s culture has been stable despite many rounds of invasion, colonization, monarchy, revolution. The culture is rooted in poetry, science, art, and the welcoming of strangers and guests. It shares a lot with Greek culture.
I hope you don’t mistake my post to be about the regime. One can dislike a regime but love the culture and people. Especially when the people don’t choose their regime. I know *you* support increased understanding between people and cultures, but often the media does not.
I definitely support the amazing culture and people and am a fan on many levels. Unfortunately when I read about Iran I’m often reading about its evil regime these days, or bad deals we make with it. I am in favor of helping its amazing people over-throw their terrible leaders.
I hope more people to learn to differentiate Iran’s government from Iranian people and culture the way you already do. Many don’t even realize the link between “Persian” and “Iranian.” For many, “Persian” means rugs, cats, cuisine, poets, etc while “Iraniam” is the regime.
