"I would do distributions immediately, book the win and move on" @chamath is 100% right about the prudent decision for GPs at IPO. Hanging on destroys relationships with LPs unnecessarily.
When Amazon bought Zappos, many LPs, including myself, pressured @Alfred_Lin and VFrogs to distribute $AMZN. At $100/share, Alfred insisted the stock would go up. By $125 he felt too much pressure. In retrospect I wish he had held on.

Theoretically, yes. Practically, I (and every LP) would have been better off not.
