@Richard_Florida’s analysis is about the “flight of the 1%.” What’s happening to SF isn’t “business elite” avoiding taxes. It’s the flight of 25% to avoid poop, needles, car break-ins, fires, power outages, dysfunctional schools, physical assaults, etc.

And the growing trend to work-from-home will spur the exact opposite of a “race to the bottom.” It will spur a race among cities competing for talent with better civic services. Poorly-run cities will shrink, well-run cities will grow. That’s a race to the top.
