Yesterday I joined my wife and kids in Bellevue hoping to march peacefully; and we ran away from tear gas (due to looting). Today they joined hundreds of volunteers to clean the city and park.

This gentleman approached my family on their way home, and he asked with a giant smile “Who has cleaned the most?” He offered $20 to each of my children to thank them for cleaning our city.

My children were dumbfounded. My eldest didn’t feel right accepting a gift, but he did so to recognize a larger message of American unity.
