Such a strong, simple message from the chief of police of Chatanooga, Tennessee. It’s heartening to see police chiefs and police unions across the US sharing similar messages, and I hope more police departments take a similar stance and go further to *do* something about it. https://t.co/EEwSWQIufF

The message from police unions denouncing this is really new, and I hope is followed up by real action and reforms.https://twitter.com/DrPhilGoff/status/1266218157770977280?s=20 …

Phillip Atiba GoffVerified account @DrPhilGoffThe number of chiefs condemning the murder of#GeorgeFloyd is noteworthy. This letter from several unions is nearly unprecedented. It doesn’t make ANY of this right. But it shocks folks working on these issues for as long as I have. pic.twitter.com/p7ZUKpnXNM1 reply 0 retweets 4 likesShow this thread -

Hadi Partovi added,
Chief Abdul D Pridgen @AbdulPridgenLE leaders have rebuked the senseless death of#GeorgeFloyd. Heartening to hear denouncements of what was seen on video. What r we doing when there is no video and such tactics do not lead to a tragic death or complaint? We still holding ourselves accountable? We must for change!1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
Los Angeles PD has not only denounced what happened, they've reminded their officers to support Americans' constitutional right to peaceful demonstrations.https://youtu.be/_0MUGF5xw48

Of course, it is easy to denounce what happens in another city. Real change in your own city is much much harder. I'm hopeful that *this time* is actually different, and that the senseless death of George Floyd can serve as a clarion call for systemic change.

As a director on the board of @axon_us, I've spent 10 yrs advising on products and services to help increase safety, transparency, and humanity in policing (like bodycams for transparency, or VR-based empathy training for police to deescalate confrontation without force)

All the tech in the world can't solve core cultural issues such as racism, which is why it's heartening for me to see so many
@axon_us customers (police chiefs and police officers) taking a vocal stance against what happened.0 replies 0 retweets 3 likesShow this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
