Should Iranians and Middle Easterners be classified as “white” or as “people of color”?

Why do we need a classification? They are human not data.

We have this discussion often in our school district. We have the second largest resettlement group in the US of Middle Easterners. Our data misses their unique needs and challenges when grouped with caucasians. Our EL Ss show as “white” We need to a new data measurement system

Both. You should have included both as an option! All classifications are silly, but at least Both would be closer to the truth than either class on its own.

The thing with being classified as white is that CBP, Immigrations, USCIS, and cops won’t treat you like they treat white people. So better to be counted with PoC and not be alone.

Neither...How about Middle Easterners. Just like there’s a distinction with Hispanics.
