In other words...it’s not “just” media who is culpable here for the omissions in this story.

May I ask what you think I or @codeorg could have done better? I’m very open to advice on this.

Hadi imo opinion this opportunity presented an ideal moment for you to elevate the voices of others either by way of declining to be the focus (which I understand is a large ask), or elevating the stories of the many women-led orgs in your interview.

I know you’ve mentioned these leaders post interview which is a good move, but the time to use your very large platform to elevate others is in the moment when you’ve been handed the mic and have a chance to reach millions. You missed that moment.

Now I know based on our past conversations now is about the time you’re gonna hit me with the teacher story and pivot this convo to the very great work you all do with schools,

I’ve said many times that this work is very much needed and these teachers deserve all the flowers for helping to teach our babies in the place where they sit each and every day. But...

As many of us have shared including @ayahbdeir so eloquently in her medium post; unfortunately teaching coding in schools does not answer all of the questions around access to tech esp for women and poc.

Finally you’ve mentioned the great work from several of the women on your team many of whom which I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Real talk? Seems like a missed opportunity NOT to give them the platform to rep for http://code.org  especially on this issue.

Believe me when I tell you I felt the oversight there as much as would any woman in a leadership role who is forced to do the heavy lifting in an organization while as it’s been said in articles a “charismatic male” gets the public acclaim and credit.

If anything tells the story more around the uphill battle for recognition in tech more than this fiasco in a nutshell?pic.twitter.com/oKpTvLqzNI

Thanks so much, especially for your generously noncritical tone. I'm not going to talk about the teachers - teachers got more air-time on the TV piece than I did, which made me very happy. That's not what was left out of the piece.

I think the hardest thing you ask is the idea of declining 60 Minutes altogether. That seems wrong for the stakeholders in @codeorg's community. I need to digest whether I could have done this, esp in context that I was told this was a piece together with @ayahbdeir.

Of course, you also know that's a "large ask" :-)
