When the denominator is so low % increase can be misleading but still great news In 2018, a total of 135,992 students took the AP Computer Science exam, but only 7,301 participants were black , Hispanic or Latino – 20,954 Female students – 38,195 participants, (but up 39%)
Agreed - especially with a single year’s increase. But look at the last set of charts in the article, for year-over-year improvement. The balance is still far from even, but finally trending up for the first time, for 5 years in a row
