    I remember Sept 11 very clearly, and how it personally changed my life as a Muslim. reports on the legacy of that day for Muslims in the US.

    Such a sad day for us at NPR but so privileged to have worked with all the way from Libya to DC. An advocate for women journalists and diversity, I’ve had the honor to be guided throughout my career by this great woman. We will miss you.

    But it is time to say goodbye. Like much of the US, I need a break! I'm leaving at the end of October filled with love and gratitude for all I've been able to do to fulfill our public service mission. Please support . And thank you for listening.

    At least 12 US troops killed at Kabul airport. This casualty count is extremely rare Not even during the height of the US surge of forces in 2010 —with 110,000+ troops on ground conducting ops across Afghanistan—would we see this many killed. Back then, 3 would haven been a lot.

    The Kabul airport attack has nixed hopes of evacuation for the last thousands still hoping to make it out. Am hearing the US military is sealing shut the airport gates. The casualty numbers are growing by the minute. A tragedy piled on a tragedy.

    I can honestly say being a parent in this pandemic of little kids has been a nightmare, followed by hell , topped by a horror show. Every day I am trying to balance sanity and safety and it's crazy.
