Quick question: Is it "for fucks sake" or "for fuck sake" ? It's for a work email so has to sound professional.

Another day, another embargo and addendum! “New” (not really!) variants of the day: L1D evictions (Fig 6, RIDL paper) or and vector registers or . See . As a bonus: a faster RIDL exploit that leaks a root hash in 4s:

I think there should be one more type. - A Linus's friend: a guy who looks at the Linux solution first, then read about the decisions before these solutions were implemented in LKML, and then implements something very similar from scratch:) Actually that's my type currently)

Our NDSS paper, ABSynthe is now online: ABSynthe takes a target program and a microarchitecture and automatically synthesizes new side channels. With cool leakage maps!

TIL about the academic K-Index (Kardashian Index) - how many twitter followers do you have compared to your total number of paper citations (43.3*c**0.32)? If high (>5): you're a scientific Kardashian. h/t

    - Industry ML papers: we did something cool, improves the last benchmark by 0.01%, here’s the dataset & code. - industry systems papers: we built this crazy good system, performance 100x better than our last paper, here are normalised plots, cant share code & data, but trust us

US pressured NL into blocking ASML sale to China and the papers here are full of nonsensical reasons ("advanced processors can be used in military equipment", etc.). Here is a simpler explanation: this is about maintaining technological dominance.

I wrote down my initial stumbling blocks when starting out with development: I'm probably going to blog more about RISC-V in the future. I should have chosen a better domain name. ;)

Embargo ends - is public: It allows to induce faults into computations in SGX, breaking crypto and corrupting memory. Great collaboration with Kit Murdock, , , , Frank Piessens!!

Not so long ago there was something called a "telephone book" that published effectively everyone’s name, address, and telephone number — PUBLICLY. Today, when that same data is [mistakely] made available online it’s called a data breach. Culturally, what changed?

(Unpopular?) opinion: I think we should stop branding and hyping vulnerabilities with apocalyptic names and logos. It is a vulnerability, not a happy meal.

So AVX-512 has the ability to suppress page faults. Who at Intel thought this is a good idea? But at least it makes living without TSX easier if you want to write side-channel exploits (and have an AVX-512 capable box).
