Internet is a tool and poverty is a situation. You can say lack of one perpetuates the other but they can't be compared. #ApplesandOranges

My kid literally has to turn in homework to various on-line forums. It's not an option in some school districts.

Yea, I mentioned this to her. She knows kids in school who are actively failing o keep up because they have no Internet at home and can't do HOMEWORK at home.

The wonderful thing about connectivity is that it’s the great equalizer of our time. Connecting people to mass consumption and distribution of knowledge is the greatest poverty-ender that has ever existed. I’m proof of that and there are many stories like mine.

It’s incredibly easy for people who don’t need an equalizer like that to not see the value of something that serves that purpose.

Imagine how frustrating it is when your kidlet’s teacher tells you at Back to School night that she’s “not good with computers” so doesn’t use email or PTA sponsored online tools for communication and class sign ups

I've run into this a lot with my kids' teachers as well. One said she only checks email once a week from the library and has no texting capability on her flip phone and was waiting for the school to get her a smartphone for apps.
