If I say “same” too, can we all stop being embarrassed?

It’s very interesting that this is true. How quickly/easily we switch to a kind of outside view, and how rarely we do it.

Yeah, same thing happens when I'm showing my city/office/neighborhood/etc. to a visitor. Like, when I lived in NYC I didn't notice the trash everywhere until I was showing tourists around.

Or rubberducking. There is little more infuriating than being stymied, going to chat or somewhere to explain it, and halfway through the description suddenly going - 'oh. Oh. 𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵! Brain, why couldn't you tell me that 20 minutes ago?'

A variation is the method of the virtual guru where you pretend to be someone else ("why would patrick / gwern / julia / tyler say?"). I've found this shockingly effective.https://twitter.com/michael_nielsen/status/1036815737560551426 …

Patrick: It will be fine in the end! Gwern: Hm, this is totally related to catnip Julia: I agree on the meta level, but I disagree on the object level Tyler: How does this even help economic growth?

... Now I am nerd-sniped by wondering whether I am more likely to agree on the meta-level & disagree on the object-level, OR agree on the object-level and disagree on the meta-level

What is the difference between meta and object level?

I agree this is a good question to ask on the meta-level, but I object to asking it on the object-level.
