Except that in Asch’s conformity studies people fail to conform two thirds of the time, across Milgram’s obedience studies people fail to obey 58% of the time and in Zimbardo’s role studies most Guards and Prisoners don’t accept their roles. People are not natural conformists.https://twitter.com/PsychToday/status/1054452579273400320 …
Why be so negative? Look on the bright side: only a third of people are willing to potentially fatally electrocute a subject just because a guy in a white suit told them to, or crumple & lie blatantly about obvious facts. The totalitarianism glass isn't half full it's half-empty!

Excellent point
@gwern People focus on the obedience because it is so shocking anyone should comply. Yet the danger is, by ignoring disobedience we produce naturalising explanations. We fail to ask when people do or don't obey. And hence we fail to develop tools against fascism.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
