Writing a 𝘔𝘓𝘗 review, I'm amused to realize how different fandom mechanisms can be. Why do Touhou & MLP both have so much artwork? - MLP fan: "MLP's art is so clean and elegant; even I could do this!" - Touhou fan: "ZUN's art is so crappy; even I couldn't do worse than this!"

This calls to mind those classic experimebts showing post-hoc confabulation in e.g. hemispatial neglect.

I was thinking of it being a real effect. Like, why is MLP music so small compared to Touhou music fandom? I think it's because Ingram's *too* good: they're perfect as they are. While ZUN provides you melodies you can see how you can use in an infinite number of genres or remixes

I know nothing about touhou, but I'm surprised to hear mlp music called "small." It's been years since I paid attention to the fandom and most of the fandom artists followed have since moved on, but there were many. Most music was not direct remixes of the show.

I thought MLP music small b/c YT leads you in recommendation circles, P@D is hardly a few hundred tracks, and the ED category maybe a few thousand. Touhou typically gains 1000+ pieces per convention, the highly incomplete TLMC is like >60k music pieces, and NND in millions AFAIK.

I don't know if there's any easy way to get a count of submissions but you could compare https://www.reddit.com/r/TOUHOUMUSIC/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/MLPtunes/ (keeping in mind the former is a small fraction of the true size of Touhou music fandom since most of that is in Japanese).
