Writing a 𝘔𝘓𝘗 review, I'm amused to realize how different fandom mechanisms can be. Why do Touhou & MLP both have so much artwork? - MLP fan: "MLP's art is so clean and elegant; even I could do this!" - Touhou fan: "ZUN's art is so crappy; even I couldn't do worse than this!"

This calls to mind those classic experimebts showing post-hoc confabulation in e.g. hemispatial neglect.

I was thinking of it being a real effect. Like, why is MLP music so small compared to Touhou music fandom? I think it's because Ingram's *too* good: they're perfect as they are. While ZUN provides you melodies you can see how you can use in an infinite number of genres or remixes

(Something can be so high-quality, complex, and perfect that it silences any dialogue or imitation. You can only gaze on it admiringly. Any attempt to adapt it would simply make you feel ashamed about how crappy your result was. It has no affordances.)
