I'm not aware of anything particularly persuasive showing any degree of myopia~>IQ.
Wow this is crazy high: "Sixty years ago, 10–20% of the Chinese population was short-sighted. Today, up to 90% of teenagers and young adults are. In Seoul, a whopping 96.5% of 19-year-old men are short-sighted." Especially compared to the around 50% of young adults in the USA.
Economic development taketh and it giveth - now they can afford LASIK for that myopia.
This may be a little far-fetched, but there could also be correlation between higher myopia and supposed higher IQ in East Asian countries (compared to the West). But whether it is genes → myopia → IQ or myopia ← IQ ← genes I have no idea.
How does that work given that East Asian countries were smarter before myopia rates skyrocketed? Which is what I was pointing at.
