No, and how would you know?

Are these really the best arguments you have? "Well, like, he seemed *really* into it and to've earned some bitcoins early on, and Israel was embarrassed by it. Must be Mossad!"

He only started in late 2016. His bitcoins would only have ~doubled.

"No, officer, I only started recently, I swear." Assuming he didn't get bitcoins for other things - remember, SR1 was quite popular in Israel. I know more than one person who stumbled into a Bitcoin stash because they bought some very early on for MDMA or weed and never used it.

> Israeli authorities have accused him of earning about $240,000 worth of the digital currency Bitcoin after selling his threat services on the dark web. sounds about right...https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-security-jewish/israeli-u-s-teen-indicted-for-bomb-threats-hate-crimes-u-s-justice-department-idUSKCN1GD3MN …

So, if he made $240k for making online threats, who was paying?

Some of those 2000 threats? You can't have it both ways. If he does a surprising lot, then earning a lot is not surprising; if he earns a surprising lot, then it can't be surprising that he did a lot. They can't both be surprising. 'My goodness! He did a lot *and* earned a lot!'

If it was *normally* that lucrative, more people would have been doing it - and probably serious adults in Eastern Europe, not some Israeli kid with a brain tumor.

It's not normally that lucrative, because crypto is unlikely to see many more OOMs, and thankfully, swatters are rare in the first place because most people are not sociopaths. Something similar could be said of Martin Shkreli and Elizabeth Holmes: it's possible *because* rare.
