Dunno if you’re like me, but I always remember register behaviors, remember the C-x r prefix, but forget what keys do what after that. Hydra solves this problem really well

Even if Hydra improves one part, the overall point remains - what exactly do we do with BCI if we get it? Emacs is a highly diluted, watered down version of Engelbart's vision 50 years ago, yet I still can't manage its limited intelligence amplification.
-
??? Shirley, are you joking about not being able to manage Emacs? Like, I get that the default interface is inhumanly bad, but of course people are constantly inventing conveniences and UIs on top of it. Everybody’s different, hence the need for multiple UIs 1/
-
The problem isn't the UI, the problem is that any powerful tool requires limited cognitive capacity, and humans are the stupidest possible organisms capable of technological civilization. Think about how many people don't learn touch typing, or any math.
-
When you say “the problem” you mean that artificial intelligence can’t change human stupidity? I totally agree, I just don’t see why it’s a problem. Your question was “what do we do if we get it” and I think it’s obvious we do what we’ve always done ... use it as best we can

It's good to have realistic expectations. Amara's law.

“‘ln -s’ is like cp” is the shortest sentence that materially improved my life so I now repeat it to you.
