This is particularly amazing when you think that has the chutzpah to double its prices & charge *$200* for fewer SNPs than they used to sequence.

(You would make image inpainting a superset of image generation by feeding in an image tensor to the generator; missing sections are zeroed-out, and a full image is generated by zeroing out the entire input. Percent of missing pixels can be annealed from 0-100% during training.)

(Also I think I just broke my Nvidia drivers/CUDA libraries when, after successfully installing Pytorch, I succumbed to hubris and attempted to install Tensorflow as well.)

Vital stats: over 9000 gigabytes(*); cost: 3900 wampum shells; 2160 TI calculators; 1000 deaf Edisons; 32 sheep; 2 martyred bored women; 1.7 stitches in time; 1.5 first bloods; and 1 working Piece of Crap. Trains MNIST to 99% in 3m52s. But next time, I'm buying or renting.

(Hold on now watch the fans spin / as you confuse PWR pins / the volts are dropping / the caps are popping / sine waves chopping / clocks are stopping no time to look away / like the demoscene I'm shrinking / like Zpaq I'm thinking / red like a gamer LED / you know it's dead)

It's been 2 weeks / since the mobo didn't boot from sleep 1 week / since it looked at me & went "beep beep" 5 days / since I sighed & said "I'll give it another try" 3 days / since another board I knew I had to pay Yesterday / it finally ran, but it'll still be 2 days to GANs...

Oh duh - this is a semantic segmentation task! The generator does image inpainting to fill in large random regions, and the discriminator does semantic segmentation on two classes, real/fake. Direct per-pixel supervision for the generator.

Fun fact: during check out offered to mail me _I Am A M_ by Friday in exchange for... '$22,497.75 Local Express'. You really have to wonder where their books are mailing from. (For $22k I could take a limo to Library of Congress, walk in, steal a copy, & duck bail.)

I'm surprised that his 2-volume autobiography _Ex-Prodigy: My Childhood and Youth_ & _I Am Mathematician_ don't seem available online though they're famous & good. Oh well. I've ordered copies - another 2 for the scan pile. (Bits for the Bit God! Scans for the Scan Throne!)

"In Wiener’s class...there were no fewer than 5 properly accredited prodigies, ranging from...11 to Wiener’s mature 15. Of these 4, at least 3 were the sons of aggressively ambitious fathers; the other 2 Wiener knew nothing about." Something in the post-Enlightenment water...

One more: - how even IQ experts can fall prey to trivial regression-to-the-mean effects. (How do you run a high-IQ school and not know about that...? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
