A word of advice to newer activists: Call actions where you might be arrested "arrestables," not "civil disobedience." Civil disobedience means INTENTIONALLY breaking unjust laws in protest of those specific laws. Calling a protest CD can make it harder to argue 1A in court.

It sounds semantic, but when you all your action "CD" it's usually technically incorrect (unless you're protesting the trespass laws themselves) and opens a window for a prosecutor to say you were intentionally breaking the law (rather than under the belief that it was 1A legal)

That shouldn't matter (1A should protect you whatever your intention) but not all judges are actually good at the law, *and* it can strengthen criminal conspiracy charges if they decide to press them.

Also this has nothing to do with legal but it's a huge pet peeve of mine so I'll stick it here: "Direct action" is a philosophy/strategy of base-led, issue campaign-driven movement organizing. It's inaccurate to use it as shorthand for "arrestable action."

Good luck out there and remember: Direct action gets the goods!

(Oh ps, I'm not a lawyer, this should not be construed as official legal advice, blah blah blah don't sue me)
