  1. (Also this isn't a subtweet of anyone, it's inspired by a general conversation I was having with a friend earlier today)

  2. I"m really happy folks are taking on organizing as part of their lives, it's the disrespect for the expertise of folks who have made it their vocation that gets me. Like, I don't think I'm qualified to tell firefighters how to do their job just because I blew a candle out once.

  3. Weird how everyone's a something-slash-organizer now, and they'd all slit your throat if you dared have an opinion on their primary "something" gig but definitely are movement scholars now that they spent two months in 2017 organizing the other grad students to, uh, read Gramsci

The Philadelphia proudboys started a GoFundMe page for retired police officer Jack Gillespie and his Tavern. It seems lastnight the Philadelphia proudboys were brought back to the millcreek tavern, only this time as personal guests of Mr. Gillespie.

When news broke about proudboys hosting a event at the Milcreek tavern in west Philadelphia it was a reminder of their past involvement with neo-nazi black metal bands. Shortly after it seems the millcreek fell to some unfortunate vandalisms by angered members of the community.

  13. Also this has nothing to do with legal but it's a huge pet peeve of mine so I'll stick it here: "Direct action" is a philosophy/strategy of base-led, issue campaign-driven movement organizing. It's inaccurate to use it as shorthand for "arrestable action."

  14. That shouldn't matter (1A should protect you whatever your intention) but not all judges are actually good at the law, *and* it can strengthen criminal conspiracy charges if they decide to press them.

  15. It sounds semantic, but when you all your action "CD" it's usually technically incorrect (unless you're protesting the trespass laws themselves) and opens a window for a prosecutor to say you were intentionally breaking the law (rather than under the belief that it was 1A legal)

  16. A word of advice to newer activists: Call actions where you might be arrested "arrestables," not "civil disobedience." Civil disobedience means INTENTIONALLY breaking unjust laws in protest of those specific laws. Calling a protest CD can make it harder to argue 1A in court.

  17. Millcreek is a Nazi bar a block away from me. It's violating its liquor license by openly encouraging the patronage of members of a criminal racist gang that's terrorized me at my own home. It needs to get shut down. & , can you help?
