Not everything has to be negative or positive. It's just a fact that the UK is claiming something that never existed before. There is no 'back' here. You can read that fact as exciting, dangerous, sensible, ambitious, or anything in between.

That is true. But the Common Fisheries Policy started with an act seen at the time as bad faith in Britain, imposing common access to the North Sea’s rich fisheries just BEFORE accession negotiations began. Yes and Iceland and Norway having thriving fishing industries because they didn't hand over their resources to Brussels like Ted Heath did. What a great opportunity the UK now has.

Also...don't forget we can (and must) ensure all vessels granted access must be fitted with REM. Then we have the ability to control these vessels which we all know does not currently exist. That in itself is a massive step forward.
