    Must read ! A year and a half into the mandate, the European Parliament hasn’t found its role yet. The 🇪🇺 as a whole suffers from the resulting lack of direction. We need the Conference on the Future of Europe to recalibrate EU politics !

    Obama is right. This election is existential for the US, but also for the world. Trump's toxic behaviour has consequences because it emboldens authoritarians in Europe & beyond who want to undermine liberal values.

    Interesting to have such differing impressions of the very same meeting. Too little progress, too much stubbornness from Council. Barely any movement on core issues. Hoping for more successful talks in the next days, it will be hard to reach a compromise in this pace.

    : Productive 2nd trilogue on the conditionality mechanism. Negotiations are moving constructively forward, again some progress was made, differences narrowed further down. Still some way to go until compromise is in reach. But mood music is one of cautious optimism.
