    This was my first lesson, on my first day, as an early employee in a startup that went on to be a billion dollar acquisition - hire the very best people you can... $20k here or there is irrelevant.

    Pay the extra $20k+ to hire the candidate who will be 2x+ better than the next person. As a founder I made the mistake of being overly frugal and trying to beat the market in hiring. Moving fast and getting the best people is generally the better path.
