The API server on each gateway was serving a valid certificate, causing calls to /server-status to succeed (Normally this should fail if a server is inaccessible), thereby causing devices to repeatedly attempt to connect, creating a very frustrating experience for users.

This indicator was used to support connectivity by older mobile devices. Valid certificates were served by Guardian gateways, but the indicator was causing connectivity failures, as devices were reasonably refusing to validate against the indicated invalid intermediate.

We have additional information on yesterday's connectivity issues: During the process of connecting to a Guardian gateway, devices were sent a certain indicator by our system, causing an attempt to validate the gateway's certificate against an expired trust chain.

UPDATE: The new certificate rollout was completed, and all Guardian gateways have been confirmed to be fully reachable from iOS and macOS devices.
