BREAKING: statement from Corbyn - "I described those pro-Israel activists as Zionists, in the accurate political sense and not as a euphemism for Jewish people”; but adds he is now “more careful” with the term, because it has been “increasingly hijacked by antisemites”.

So... no apology then? Not good enough for me Heather. He's antisemitic. He said what he meant and I'd have more respect for him if he owned it and admitted it.

He made a blatantly racist statement. Yet you fawn over him as your future Prime Minister. Do you have no empathy at all? No sense that he comes across to so many people as obviously antisemitic, and therefore racist?

If he'd made a blatantly racist/anti-semitic statement, I would not be following him. There is not a shred of racism/anti-semitism in this man's blood. Stop attacking him just because he criticises Israel over its MANY abuses of human rights.

He said that “Zionists” don’t get the “English sense of irony”. Do you honestly, in your heart, not accept he’s talking about Jewish people?

In my heart I know he wasn't talking about jewish people, just as, in my heart, I know that to criticise Likud is not to question the legitimacy of Israel.

Why bring up Israel and its current ruling party in a discussion about the antisemitism of the British opposition leader?

I was trying to make the point that to criticise one particular view is not the same as to criticise jewish people as jewish people. Many jewish people reject zionism just as many jewish people reject the policies of Likud.

Strange how those so easily upset over use of language are the same people who sling profanities around in an attempt to demonstrate their strength of feeling, its almost like they're hypocritical with no self awareness? 🤔

Why would 'Zionist' be a euphemism for 'Jewish people'? Euphemism: a mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant.
