If we are ever to be sustainable as a species we *must* reduce our per-head consumption; and change to less damaging technologies; and reduce the number of consumers non the planet through much lower birth rate.

Noone considered reducing taxes on fruits and vegetables... and on educating people about benefits of balanced diet?

Education is a long game - it's essential but taxation could see a much faster reduction in intensive meat and dairy consumption - and in my mind fish caught by unsustainable and damaging methods should be taxed too. Or maybe subsidising sustainable food systems is the way to go!
