A venn diagram. One circle is labelled "what recruiters think I want in a workplace. It has the following entries:

“Changing the future”

Funded by top VCs

“Fast-paced environment”

“Former google engineers”

But what if we monetized the rot?

The other circle is "What I actually want in a workplace:"

Positive impact on world

Labour rights

Decent Hours

No DOD/DHS contracts

Commitment to diversity

The only item in the overlap is "Cool programming languages"

A pretty convincing argument for the inherent perversion of American culture is that Leonard Cohen wrote a song about a fuck so good it breaks your heart but since its title has vaguely religious overtones it gets sung at solemn and important events like baby funerals and such.

Everyone talks about Tom Cruise doing all his own stunts & Daniel Day Lewis researching roles. But no-one talks about Margaret Rutherford taking fencing lessons so she could do every shot of the sword fight at the end of Murder Ahoy herself. No stunt doubles. She was 72.

You see the soldiers in this picture? They are National Guardsmen from Puerto Rico, citizens, coming to Washington, DC to defend a Commander in Chief they could not vote for, a democratic federal republic in which they are denied representation in Congress or a presidential vote.

Speaking of the great American sitcom: Here's your reminder Chicago's Navy Pier has a fantastic sculpture of the legendary as psychiatrist Dr. Robert Hartley, whose office was located at 430 N. Michigan.

Huh. Just realized that you can’t rent media from the Microsoft Store unless you’re using a Microsoft device. Shame, as it’s the only place with a reasonable rental price for SWALLOW.
