There are other factors, for example, a materialistic insistence on publicly living well that one can "get ahead" in by never having kids. Cool wine aunt gets to simulate a jet set lifestyle, but two paces removed from the truly rich, who keep their wives at home raising kids.

2. Age of consent and the term "pedophilia" For 50,000+ years female humans started having kids at 15-16. This obviously corresponds to sex at 14-15.

Within the past 100-200 years it has become fashionable to not only delay childbearing into the late 20s and now 30s, but to heap scorn on people for even being sexually attracted earlier than that.

The term "pedophilia," rightly a term of opprobrium for those who would molest children and scar them for life, has been increasingly applied to any sexual conduct involving parties under the age of 18.

And yet teens having sex IS still overwhelmingly the norm. If it is scarring for life to engage in some sort of sexual activity at 15-18, then the vast majority of humanity has been thus scarred. So why the eagerness to condemn and draw a fence around this?

It's almost as if the healthy mechanism of social opprobrium was hijacked to serve some other purpose. Who stands to lose the most if people follow the ancient mating patterns?

The young and energetic 16-20 year old whose body will recover fastest from childbearing? Or the 36-40 year old who gave up 20 years of biological fitness to chase a C-suite job, only to find that either she couldn't hack it or it wasn't all it was cracked up to be?

Quite obviously the modern distortion of the term is a matter of social engineering, not using it in its original sense of keeping the sexually active away from the biologically and mentally unripe.

And yet, with their principles further and further afield from the basics - child rearing as a duty to society - the right have been misled into accepting this new definition, which defies biology.

note that ages of first child bearing / marriage have varied over time and are not consistently at 15-16 prior to the modern era.

Agreed. I am making a simplistic statement across history and prehistory. Coming of age ceremonies, e.g. Bat Mitzvahs, were intended to be early enough to get in before sexuality, hence they took place at 13... But that's not to say the actual age of first activity didn't vary.

right, in some times in English history average marriage could be as old as 27 or so, as I understand it.
