I think it reflected player usage somewhat, people were just hacking the system to make weird unusual heroes. That does sort of make sense given that D&D chars are far outside of the average anyway

My preference would be to have the restrictions with a note that you can relax them if you want. As it is, I just ban all the weird demi-humans

yeah, I think the problem is that due to present egalitarianism they can't say "the average (thing) has these stats and limitations and is never (this class), to create an extraordinary type do [this]." all females should have lower str, they're not built for combat
